We have a centralized department of food safety and sanitation experts that manage our global food safety programs with support from local food safety representatives.



The Global Standard for Quality
Our global network was built to deliver quality. We follow a rigorous quality assurance process to maintain fruit quality from harvest to delivery– that’s why we’re suppliers of the World’s Finest Avocados™ and World’s Finest Mangos™.
Harvest
Delivering the World’s Finest begins with picking the World’s Finest Avocados and Mangos off the tree.


Mango Sap Removal
Before packing, our mangos go through a Sap Removal process in which we cut the stem and place the mango upside down. This prevents the sap from dripping down the skin of the mango, which can cause Sap Burn and damaged skin.
Hot Water Treatment
In order to control fruit flies in compliance with the USDA APHIS, our mangos are immersed in water at 115ºF at the country of origin.


Avocado Hydrocooling
In high-heat regions, we hydrocool our avocados before packing. This strategic postharvest practice rapidly reduces fruit temperature to extend avocado shelf life, minimize fruit damage, and promote long-lasting quality.


Sorting
Each avocado and mango is sorted by size and grade before continuing on its packing journey so the right fruit goes to the right customer.


Avocado Dry Matter Testing
The amount of dry matter in an avocado impacts how it ripens! So we measure the dry matter before ripening to make sure every avocado gets the right treatment.


Quality Inspections Upon Arrival
Once the fruit arrives in a Mission Produce distribution center, our quality team checks the temperature, pack configuration, color, grade, stage, size, and appearance.


Packing, Handling & Ripening
Every avocado and mango is properly packed, handled, ripened, and stored according to their unique characteristics. We take a customer-specific approach to ripening to deliver perfectly staged fruit.


Final Quality Inspections
Before we send our fruit to their final destination, we inspect every order for pallet integrity, proper ripe staging, and accurate labeling.


Expert Cold Chain Management
From farm to facility to customer, our fruit is shipped and stored under controlled temperature specifications to maintain fruit stage and quality.
