Quality & Ripening Controller - UK

JOB TITLE: QUALITY & RIPENING CONTROLLER

REPORTS TO: Quality & Ripening Manager

DEPARTMENT: Quality & Ripening

LOCATION: Dartford, UK

JOB SUMMARY

Assess and report product quality from intake to dispatch, including the ripening of product and all associated quality processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carry out checks and report quality at inloading, ripening, production, and dispatch.
• Manage the ripening regimes and report performance against defined quality and technical KPI’s.
• Complete shelf life and accelerated ripening trials, reporting results.
• Highlight quality performance at the grower level.
• Guide and support the packhouse on product handling and product management.
• Assist with stock reassessments to ensure product returns are maximised through appropriate stock rotation and usage.
• Equipment calibration.
• Assist with technical ripening trials.
• Prepare customer and analysis samples.
• Perform other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 1 year of prior work experience in a Fresh Produce / Quality function would be beneficial, but suitable equivalent qualification / skills are welcomed.
• Basic computer skills, ideally an understanding of Microsoft D365.
• Work and make decisions with a sense of urgency, adhering to tight schedules.
• Good problem-solving skills with a strong ability to effectively identify problems and help resolve them.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills, including an ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.

• Teamwork: Balance team and individual responsibilities for group efficiencies. Exhibit objectivity and openness to others’ views. Able to work effectively with all levels to obtain team objectives and KPI’s.
• Quality: Must demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and commitment to complete tasks correctly the first time.
