Hydrocooling is a strategic postharvest practice in Mission’s world-class cold chain that extends avocado shelf life, minimizes fruit damage, and promotes the long-lasting quality of our avocados. On our Peruvian farms, we use in-field hydrocoolers to minimize the impact of high summer temperatures.
In our California packhouse, we use advanced computer systems and HD cameras to analyze, grade, and sort our avocados. By taking 40 rapid pictures of every piece of fruit, we can detect even miniscule indications of damage before sorting.
Our industry-leading ripening system features precise temperature control and ethylene injection technology to perfectly ripen every avocado and mango to customer specification. Our Ripe Masters manage fruit ripening daily, leveraging their decades of experience in ripening avocados according to origin, season, size, and more.
