JOB TITLE: Production Manager – Mission Produce UK
REPORTS TO: Head of Operations
LOCATION: Mission Produce UK LTD, Dartford, Kent (on-site)
Job Summary
To oversee and manage the production processes to ensure efficient and effective operations within the avocado and mango packing facility. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage, develop, and improve packing
- Lead and manage the production team; including Senior Line Leaders, Line leaders, Level two operatives, line operatives and agency work force.
- Coordinate the production team resource to ensure customer service levels are achieved and
- Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team performance and ensure adherence to best practices, instilling a culture of continuous improvement in the Production area. Conduct regular training and performance reviews.
- Responsible for the recruitment, training, and retention of new production employees, working in coordination with HR and compliant with HR processes.
- Create a working relationship with the Planning Manager, developing functional synergies, to deliver production KPI’s, such as efficiency, downtime and cost per case.
- Analyse performance results and deliver improvement action plans, continually improving processes to deliver efficiency and quality.
- Minimise the waste output, whilst increasing
- Ensure that customer quality specifications are understood and met by all Production team
- Collaborate with Product Management and the Technical team to ensured packed product is aligned to customer specifications.
- Manage all aspects of the Label Room, working closely with the Packaging & Consumables purchase controller.
- Collaborate with the Engineering & Maintenance Manager to deliver preventative maintenance training and cleaning schedules, helping to reduce downtime and improve operator
- Take direction from Technical Director to ensure that all requirements, relating to BRC & SMETA, are delivered.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- 3 years’ experience working within a production facility
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good written and verbal skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work with a variety of cross-functional team members
- Competent in problem-solving
- Technical capability and understanding
- Quality control experience
- Understanding of fresh produce quality expectations
- Understanding of ERP systems such as Microsoft D365
