LOCATION: Mission Produce EU (Europe Retail Packing – ABC Westland), Poeldijk (on site)

Job Summary

Support the Quality Control Manager and complete quality assessments, reporting on the product throughout the process, from intake to dispatch of the fruit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out checks and report quality at inloading, ripening, production, dispatch.
• Complete shelf life and accelerated ripening trials, reporting results.
• Work closely with the Technical and Production teams to understand customer quality performance and take action accordingly.
• Highlight quality performance at grower level.
• Guide and support the Packhouse on product handling to ensure customer specifications are met.
• Assess stock quality to ensure product returns are maximized through appropriate stock rotation and usage.
• Equipment calibration.
• Customer samples.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of prior work experience in a Fresh Produce / Quality function.
• Fluent in English.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and familiar with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft D365.
• Work and make decisions with a sense of urgency, adhering to tight schedules.
• Good problem-solving skills with a strong ability to effectively identify problems and help resolve them.
• Excellent communication skills, including an ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
• Teamwork: work together to balance both team and individual responsibilities for group efficiency. Show objectivity and openness to others’ views. Able to work effectively with all levels to obtain team objectives and KPI’s.
• Must demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and commitment to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Ability to be result focused and to prioritize a variety of tasks, in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able and willing to work some hours on weekends and national holidays etc. according to the needs of the fruit checks and ripening processes.
• Customer service driven.
• Travels to visit customers in the EU when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills among teams and other departments.
• Accuracy and commitment to complete tasks correctly.
• Ability to work in cold conditions from 2⁰C to 10⁰C.
• Ability to climb ladders to the top tier of pallets and in the ripe rooms.
• Ability to lift or move a minimum of 25 pounds / 11.33 kilograms.
• Ability and willingness to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch/bend as needed to perform essential tasks.
• A license to drive a forklift is a big plus.
• Flexibility to cover for other colleagues of the OPS team (e.g. during sickness and days off/holidays)
